The following indications are currently treated:

• Shoulder pain – painful restriction of movement of the shoulder at the tendon attachment
  
• Tennis elbow – painful chronic tendon attachment inflammation at the elbow
  
• Heel pain – (generally) chronic, painful inflammation under the heel bone
  
• Achilles tendopathy – generally inflammatory irritation of the Achilles tendon above the attachment
  
• Jumpers knee – stress pain or synovial bursa inflammation at the apex of the kneecap
  
• Shin splints – stress pain at the edge of the shin bone
  
• Iliotibial band friction syndrome - synovial bursa inflammation or tendon attachment inflammation at the hip bone
  
• Trigger points

No, this indication has not (yet) been confirmed by studies. Many physicians also successfully treat other disease types with Radial Shockwaves® and the Swiss DolorClast®. However, ATRAD can only provide information on applications confirmed by studies.

Yes, in such cases in particular it has been scientifically documented remarkable results.

First the physician palpates the affected areas in consultation with the patient. Shoulder pain is located with ultrasound. Contact gel is applied to improve transmission of the shockwave into the tissue. Then the physician moves the shockwave applicator over the prepared site. 

Sensitivity to pain varies from patient to patient. If you wish, the physician can anaesthetise the area before treatment. Generally the treatment is conducted without anaesthetics.

After a treatment session harmless swellings, blue spots or pain may be experienced, all of which disappear in a short time.

Many patients report relief from pain after the first session. However, there have been some isolated cases in which an improvement has only been experienced some weeks after the third treatment. Everybody responds differently.
No one can guarantee anything. Even an operation cannot guarantee freedom from pain. 

Yes. Various physicians offer trigger shockwave therapy. Ask your physician about it. 

Even though it is more economical and efficient, the treatment is not yet in the catalogue of compulsory services. The most progressive health insurance funds have acknowledged the potential for savings and contribute to the costs as an additional benefit.
